Thermal Photonics

Thermal Radiation is a process that generates from thermal motion of particles inside an object and radiates energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. In this case, objects can obtain heat or cold energy through radiative heat transfer from high temperature heat sources or low temperature cold sources. Regulating the thermal radiation process has important significance to improve the thermal radiation transport efficiency in spatial-temporal dimensions, which has great importance for a wide variety of applications ranging from thermal management, energy utilization and thermal information processing. We are committed to studying thermal radiation regulation and its large-scale fabrication on micro-nano artificial structures based on nanophotonics, exploring and enhancing thermal radiation transport mechanisms under the multiscale perspective. Meanwhile, we focus on the practical application of the thermal radiation transport efficiency in the fields of “radiative heat transfer”, “radiative cooling” and “solar energy harvesting”.
